NFT Dogs
When I was young, my family always had at least a dog and a cat at all times. The last dog I got to know while I was still around was such a character. A white Husky we got in upstate New York from an Aunt. He was named 'Walter Reed' after the hospital my Dad recovered from a serious illness and Walter assisted with his eventual full recovery.
After I ventured out on my own, I never got to a point where I felt I could adopt a furry friend of my own because I didn't think it would be happy enough since I was always working late. Something I wish I could have done for my daughter.
When I met my partner, she had 2 small dogs, 'Lady Bug' and 'Honey Bee', both were rescues.
One day after I first met my partner, my daughter felt she could rescue a dog of her own while my partner was telecommuting from my place and I was at work. She made the correct assumption of picking out a Siberian Husky, which I could not say no to. Only she didn't know how difficult it would be. Huskys are escape artists and need constant exercise. 'Anakin' quickly became my dog and I spent quite a bit of time with him before my daughter moved out of state, breaking my heart.
When my partner's ex unexpectedly passed, we inherited his 2 larger dogs, 'Astro' and 'Kevin', both Pit mix rescues that were part of their family before they split and so they became part of my life too. Now we are a 4 dog family and it is never a dull moment. Though quite a handful, it is always very rewarding sharing their personalities and moments of pure cuteness and adoration.
I’m a lifelong dog lover and an avid fan of all art forms. I’ve enjoyed creating or discovering photos and images of my family's and friends' dogs and other furry friends. But I wanted to take it to the next level and explore new possibilities of creating art with NFTs. I discovered DALL-E, a generative AI system that can create images from text descriptions. I was amazed by the results and decided to collaborate with DALL-E to create some unique and original dog art pieces. I used DALL-E to generate images based on different dog breeds, famous paintings, and pop culture references. I then edited and refined the images to add my own touch and style.
This is a portrait inspired from my daughter's beloved Siberian Husky 'Anakin', a rescue. I wanted to honor his memory and spirit by creating an NFT of him. He looks like a loyal and loving companion in this image, don’t you agree?
This is a portrait of a Husky I titled 'Kodiak'. I wanted to capture the handsome personality all Siberian Huskies have with the creation of this NFT. Doesn't he look like he has an incredibly warm soul?
This is a tribute to one of my favorite painters, Paul Gauguin. I used DALL-E to generate an image of a beagle in Gauguin’s style, with vibrant colors and exotic patterns. I think it captures the essence of his Tahitian paintings.
This is another homage to a great artist, Edouard Manet. I used DALL-E to generate an image of a beagle in Manet’s style, with loose brushstrokes and realistic details. It makes me think of his famous painting 'A Bar at the Folies-Bergère'.
This is a futuristic vision of a Siberian Husky in a neon-lit cityscape. I used DALL-E to generate an image of a husky with glowing eyes and fur. I think it looks cool and cyberpunk.
This is an abstract representation of Anakin. I used DALL-E to generate an image of Anakin’s face in geometric shapes and colors. I think it shows his personality and energy in a different way.
My partner and I enjoy the company of 'Kevin', a mixed breed pit bull originally rescued from the San Francisco SPCA and often has a look that we playfully liken to the famous painting “Girl with a Pearl Earring” by Johannes Vermeer. I used DALL-E to generate an image of a pit bull wearing a pearl necklace. I think it looks just like Kevin!
If you are interested in owning one of these NFTs, you can find them on Rarible, a large marketplace for digital goods. The proceeds will definitely help us with the expenses of feeding and caring for the pack. You can also follow me on Twitter or Instagram or Tumblr for more updates on my growing NFT dog art collection. Thank you for reading my blog post and supporting my art. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
